Partnering with Gull Lake

Misty Moor Farm has joined the Gull Lake Virtual Partnership Program. Misty Moor provides an educational application for those wishing to explore Natural & Holistic Horsemanship. A relationship-based equine class that begins on the ground and focuses on learning the horse’s language before riding is introduced. Students learn that horses are always communicating—through body language, energy, and behavior—and develop the skills to truly listen and respond.

From the first day, students are introduced to Equus, the language of the horse. Through observation, groundwork, and hands-on experience, students explore the horse’s heart, mind, and body, gaining insight into natural behaviors, herd dynamics, and the challenges horses face in the modern world. Emphasis is placed on understanding why a horse behaves the way they do, allowing students to understand behavior issues through communication rather than force.

Riding will be incorporated, this is not a riding-focused class. A strong foundation on the ground is essential, as meaningful partnerships begin with trust, clarity, and mutual respect. Students learn to work with the horse rather than simply on the horse, creating connections that carry naturally into the saddle.

Classes take place throughout Misty Moor Farm’s 74-acre property, including the barn, stall, round pen, paddock, and pasture—offering a true immersive learning environment.

At Misty Moor we believe that if you want to ride a horse, you should know something about them first.
